The Development Prospects of Plastic Machinery

2022-08-29

Compared to metals, stones, and wood, plastics have the advantages of low cost and strong plasticity, and are widely used in the national economy. The plastic industry holds an extremely important position in the world today, and the production of plastic products has been developing rapidly around the world for many years. China's plastic product production has always been at the forefront of the world rankings, with multiple types of plastic product production already ranking first globally. China has become a major producer of plastic products in the world. From 2001 to 2010, the average annual growth rate of China's plastic product production remained above 15%, and in 2010, the total plastic product production in China reached 58.3 million tons.

Although China's total consumption of plastic products has ranked second in the world, there is a significant gap in per capita plastic consumption compared to developed countries. The data shows that in 2005, the per capita plastic consumption in China was only 29.5 kg. In the same year, the per capita plastic consumption in the United States, Belgium, and Germany reached 171 kg, 169 kg, and 155 kg, respectively, which were 5.79 times, 5.73 times, and 5.25 times the per capita plastic consumption in China.

As another indicator to measure the development level of a country's plastic industry - the plastic steel ratio, China is only 30:70, which is not as high as the world average of 50:50, and far below developed countries such as the United States' 70:30 and Germany's 63:37. These gaps, on the other hand, indicate that China's plastic products and plastic machinery industry has significant development space.

The Chinese plastic machinery market is increasingly receiving attention from foreign enterprises. On the one hand, many large international enterprises are continuously increasing the depth and breadth of cooperation with Chinese plastic machinery enterprises, but more often use mergers or stock purchases to occupy the Chinese plastic machinery market. Overseas enterprises such as Demag, Cornell, and Hong Kong Zhenxiong have entered the Chinese market through joint ventures with domestic enterprises, or by establishing separate subsidiaries or representative offices.
